Engage....

Yes I am quoting a very popular line from Star Trek Next Generation, but it has really got me thinking as of lately. Is that all I really need to be more of? Engaged with my shop, engaged with my work? What exactly does it mean in the work enviorment at all anyway?

The latest episode which I had watched, Captain Picard had let Lt Forgie, pick a random destination. To be frank, he picked somewhere that they had never gone before. Shocking right? Is that what I need to do? Go somewhere that I haven't gone before?

I used to challenge myself all the time back in college, and as of recently everything seems to come so naturally to me that I really don't feel the drive for learning anymore, and that is really starting to bug me. I tried a canoe a few years back, and made it within a weekend. I haven't finished it yet no but the hull was constructed in one weekend. It was great having a challenge in front of me and it was working out great.

Maybe that is what I need now, more challenging things to build, more types of medium to explore, or even try something different for once again just to see what happens. i am really looking into more artwork at the moment, I haven't really done anything art wise in quite some time so this should be interesting.

Maybe a sculpture is in the works, or maybe even revisiting my old high school. One of the counselors from my middle school is hosting a market at the middle school in either November or December and I am highly considering going due to the fact that I have so many ideas that I never got to share with a former teacher of mine, Mr. Reed. he had developed an idea of a moose mart, where all the items present would be centered around our mascot the mean moose. At the time I had never been able to keep up simply because I never had a CNC machine to do my ideas. Now I do have one, but alas that teacher has passed on and I am not entirely sure if his idea ever got off the ground. i am going to look into that as soon as I find someone to contact about Mr Reed.

Until then, look forward to having some more art in my work, I really do need to get back to my roots and see just what I can do with my talents again while also challenging myself more.
